Planning your Trip

Planning your Sri Lanka trip

Sri Lanka is best explained by the often clichéd expression of Serendipity, tagged on it  by its first Arab discoverers. Mostly untouched, this charming island nation still retains its beauty and tranquility. No matter whether you are here for its spectacular beaches like  Hikkaduwa and Unawatuna,  the countless heritage trails that would take you to its rich culture and history, its amazing wildlife, monopolized by elephants, which roam free in the wild and revered in temples and monasteries, or as a wanderlust with no fixed schedules and travel plans, it is impossible for you not to  fall in love with Sri lanka , which is above all the superlatives. Come and experience the irresistible charm of this tiny nation to rub off its richness and vivacity.

The spotless clean sandy coasts of Sri Lanka are safe for swimming, surfing and snorkeling and the clear waters that offer the  best views of the underwater treasures make it a popular hub of adventure sports. Set out on an enlightening heritage trails through the ancient capital of Anuradhaura , the Maha Bodhi temple and the many Buddhist temples and vestiges or enjoy the charm of an off the beaten trail that would take you closer to the glimpses of its sleepy villages and markets where life goes on in an enviably slow pace even today!

Nature parks and the wilderness of the tropical forests would indeed beckon the nature enthusiasts while the fun seekers can turn their gaze to the flea markets and the road side eateries that would pamper their taste buds with its delectable hoppers and  rice and curry. Not to forget a range of rolls and patties called ‘short eats’ that can be washed down by a range of  drinks including the specialty drink of  ginger beer, which is a great option to round off your meals.

The rich festive calender dotted with some of the greatest festivals in the world including the Esala Perahera (the festival of the tooth), the largest Buddhist festival in the world that is held in  July- August in Kandy is another irresistible reason for you to  plan a trip to Sri Lanka. The best season to visit is from December to March for the west coast, the south coast and the Hill Country, and from April to September for the ancient cities region and the east coast.  The  Kandy Esala Perahera, the 10-day festival honouring the sacred tooth relic of the Buddha falls in July- August where the hotels will be fully booked months in advance. However , out of-season travel packages and deals are too good to resist.  The beaches will be empty and the  air fares and hotel rates at their lowest. So the budget travelers might find the off season packages a great banker.

Monsoon tourist packages that run in May – August are great options to soak up the thrills and spills of the tropical monsoon, which also happens to be the beat season to indulge in the rejuvenation therapy of Ayurveda. No matter what your preferences are , Sri Lanka  would offer some of the beat deals and packages at unmatched prices!

You Want Sri Lanka Hotels? We Got ...

Sri Lanka hotels vary from the absolutely amazing (and quite expensive) to the "seen better days" to the downright awful. We visit as many hotels as we can and as frequently as we can to get our take on where they stand in the quality table. We know that customers are always wanting to balance budgets with best hotels and we find rates can vary from week to week depending on the availability and occupancy. With the state of some Sri Lanka roads (which are getting better all the time) you need to also work out a destination timetable that makes sense: nobody wants to spend a holiday in a car or minibus.

We don't charge booking fees when we make hotel bookings on your behalf and so it costs no more to book with us than with the hotel direct. Furthermore we make sure deposits are paid on time and where possible the best rooms blocked for you. We have encountered situations where customers have booked direct with hotels and then been told that because they have not paid for the rooms, the booking has been cancelled without notice. Our job is to protect you from this sort of behaviour and outcome.

We have a huge directory of Sri Lanka hotels for you to browse with maps to show you where they are as well. Take a look at our Sri Lanka Hotels

The Karma Sri Lanka Way

Karma SriLanka is both a tour agent who can build you a bespoke itinerary or holiday in Sri Lanka, a concierge to help you decide on the best places to go and things to see and a "Man Friday" who makes sure your trip goes to plan. We try to smooth out all the wrinkles during your stay whether it be misunderstandings in the hotel, issues with health or a sudden need to change your plans because of unforeseen circumstances.

With a dedicated team on the ground, we are right here to help you from the moment you touch down with excitement to the moment you fly away bags filled with happy memories. Our team speaks Sinhala, English, Italian, German and Russian so we can guide you in whatever language suits your party.

We know that tour companies can have a pretty ropy reputation for honesty: taking money, not making bookings and adding extra charges when you least expect them. We try to be as upfront as we can and offer a Best Deal Guarantee which means that we match or beat any other offer unless we really cannot and can explain exactly why.

We work with all sorts of travellers from all over the world. You can be a big group, a family, a honeymooning couple or a single backpacker looking for some help with cheap accommodation and travel planning. We are as excited to serve you whatever the budget or requirement. If nothing else, we are a local number that ensures that you have a local to help you understand or negotiate something.
