Located in the  Ratnapura District in  the Southern coast of Srilanka, Embilipitiya receives very few travelers, and is easily among Sri Lanka's less explored destinations. Travelers who pass through this sleepy hamlet,  often stick to the more touristy destinations. Embilipitiya  makes a great place to pitch your tents for tours to Udawalawa National Park, which is only 20 km north-east of Embilipitiya.
